Lakers can make conference finals even without Trevor Ariza trade – Marc J. Spears | The Jump

Rachel Nichols, Ramona Shelburne and Marc J. Spears react to the report by ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski that the Los Angeles Lakers are exploring a trade with the Phoenix Suns that would bring Trevor Ariza to L.A. alongside LeBron James and send Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to an undetermined trade partner.

  1. If y’all go look up team stats an how well the Lakers actually are as a team this early in the season then you’ll see how good they actually are. More than half of there 10 losses are self inflicted losses. Meaning they shot themselves in the foot. #LakeShow #La’Bron

  2. IT?? Did you jus say IT?? ?? you must b a lebron hater to really bring up this dude..Lakers beat Denver and They didn’t even find there identity.. No I’m jus a realist.. every team will look good at the beginning of the year..ain’t even halfway..but that’s your opinion..we will see wen time comes

  3. THIS THE FANBOY SHIT KD BE TALKING ABOUT. THEY NOT EVEN TOP 3 SEED AND THIS FANBOY SAYING THEY CAN GO TO CONFERENCE FINALS THEY CANT EVEN BEAT SPURS OR MAGIC YET THEY GOING TO WCF FOHHHH????

  4. Unless you're saying the Lakers can beat the Warriors, it's silly to say the Lakers can make conference finals. Say the Warriors are the 1 seed; to say the Lakers can make the conference finals is to say you know the Lakers are NOT going to be the 4, 5, or 8 seed– or it's to say that you know the Lakers can beat the Warriors. But last year the Warriors finished 2nd after Curry missed a lot of games. So to say the Lakers can get to the conference finals is ALSO to say either that they can beat the Warriors or, if the Warriors happen to fall to the 2nd seed you know for a fact the Lakers won't be the 3rd, 6th, or 7th.

Probably the Warriors will be the 1 seed (we're not expecting an injury). So what seed are the Lakers going to be? Given how close spots 3-8 (really 3-9) were last year, you really think you can say confidently what seed the Lakers are going to be… unless the Warriors happen to fall to the 2nd seed, in which case you know confidently that the Lakers are going to be a different seed than that?

Or, if you think the Lakers can get to the conference finals even if they have to go through the Warriors to get there, then why not just say you think the Lakers can make the Finals?

  5. After missing all of 12 shots. 9 3 pointers in the western conference final. Ariza is a poison, rockets have to trade him away.

Suddenly, Ariza has become one of the best sough player….
    It’s so funny

  6. Im a Lakers fan, but I'm a be honest…were getting by just on Lebron and its not a good look and believe me Im no Lebron fan. Kuzma and Hart have been good but inconsistent, Lonzo is ok at times and Ingram for all the talent he has just doesn't mesh that well and he's wildly inconsistent. I'm hoping they do get better but its still truly all on the young guys. Ariza would be a good addition for his experience and 3 n D prowess but who/what would we be giving up for him??

  7. LA so overrated. Dirty city with enormous taxes and a vicious media–why would anyone want to go there? And, there's no way to you can call L.A. a contender over Denver, Golden State, Oklahoma City, and there's Houston…who I imagine will be a dangerous 7 or 8 seed in the Playoffs. All of those teams are better than L.A.

  8. Even as someone who liked Ariza before it became cool this past summer, I don't see why the Lakers need Ariza right now. You could trade KCP for him, but KCP is at a similar level and is younger. Phoenix would gain from that deal and it would be a good long-term destination for KCP in free agency, but I don't see what the Lakers would gain from making that deal.

  10. Plenty of ESPN commentators said they see the Lakers going to the western conf finals before the season even started, let's not start acting like this is new material. The west was Rocky last season and this season just go worse, it's the Bulls/Warriors effect on the league not Lebron
